How to Have Confidence with Two Left Feet
I bought some new running socks a few weeks ago. Though I spent a little more money than usual, these socks provide extra cushion, moisture-wicking, and durability. They also come embroidered with R and L so there’s no question which foot they belong to. I like that. One less decision in the morning is a good thing.
The problem with the R and L showed up on laundry day. I dumped the basket of clean clothes on the bed and began to sort socks. L, L, L … wait, what happened to R, R, R? I retraced my steps to see if I’d left the R’s in the washer or maybe dropped them on the floor, but they were nowhere to be found. Our dog enjoys grabbing socks and carrying them around in his mouth, but this time he was asleep. I finally found the R’s in the dirty clothes basket. Great. I started a new load and clicked the speed wash to hurry things up. Beginning the day with two left feet didn’t seem like the best idea.
But think about it. Don’t we sometimes stumble through life like we have two left feet? Seasons of grief, loneliness, insecurity, and exhaustion trip us as we attempt to navigate their paths. A net of fear entangles us as we push forward, and we dare not take our eyes off our circumstances. We hide our feelings from those around us and hope they don’t notice our despair. Who will help us?
Listen to the good news of Psalm 121:2-3: “My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.” Our all-powerful God watches over us day and night, and He is faithful to protect us. We can have assurance even during the difficult seasons of life because God is always with us. Proverbs 3:26 promises “For the LORD will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.” The Lord is our confidence, and He is trustworthy. He will see us safely through whatever we face.
So the next time your journey leaves you with two left feet, remember who walks with you. God is your confidence, and He will make your footsteps firm.
Now it’s your turn! I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’d also love to pray with you. Please leave your comments/ prayer requests in the box below.

Sounds like you had three left feet! All joking aside, Kim, there have been plenty of times when I had two (or more) left feet. It invariably happens when I put one of them in my mouth and say something I shouldn’t! Enjoyed your encouraging message. Now, are you going to do some research on whether have L and R socks helps you run better, farther, or faster?

You’re right, Katherine! Most days I have at least three feet!😊 Grateful to God that He makes my footsteps firm! (And the jury is still out on whether my running ability has improved 🙃) Blessings to you!
